We believe music is key as it guides students in all stages of their learning and life and the key role that music plays in the overall development of children is clear: it socialization and encourages collaboration, critical spirit and respect when doing group activities. In addition, through songs you can learn values, habits, the alphabet, multiplication tables, etc. We relate the table of number three to the rhythm of the waltz. From the study of an instrument, many disciplines can be worked on: geography (where it originates from), history (when it appeared), mathematics (size and proportions), physics (acoustics and sound).
KINDER - The main thing is the musical contact from the ludic point of view and that the students feel the music class as something fun. Music causes children to increase their capacity for memory, attention and concentration; It's a way of expressing yourself; stimulates children's imagination; when combined with dance, it stimulates the senses, balance and muscle development; Provides the opportunity for them to interact with each other.
PRIMARY - In Primary students explore and express themselves through music. THEY LISTEN to musical works from different periods of history, RECOGNIZE the elements of musical language in their listening and writing. IDENTIFY instruments and human voices SING a wide repertoire of children's, traditional, folkloric, popular and universal themes. PLAY percussion instruments to accompany the repertoire of songs and their creations. THEY INTERPRET melodic themes using didactic instruments. PARTICIPATE in musical productions, and theatrical, dramatizations. Choreographic figures DANCE and bodily EXPRESS different instances in musical practice.
SECONDARY - The Secondary Music Department encourages that beyond theoretical learning, students are permanently making music. For this, the school offers multiple options. From the curricular point of view, the students attend Music Skills and Band Class classes. In Music Skills, students learn reading, writing music, transcribing rhythms, melodies, and simple harmonies. In addition, they are taught to auditory recognition of the different elements of music appreciation such as rhythm, melody and harmony. Music Skills classes incorporate the latest trends in music technology. With programs such as Hookpad and Cubase, students carry out composition projects where they apply everything they have learned. Band Class is a wind instrument program where students learn to play mainly the transverse flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet and trombone. In Band Class the skills of each instrument are developed and works prepared at the end of each cycle are presented. This program continues until Y10 since from Y11 the students who choose to continue with their musical studies do so as part of their preparation for IB Music.
