With the “Bears” we are learning about an art concept called  “Figure-Background”. We observed different paintings from various artists like Van Gogh, Milo Lockett, Claudio Baldrich and Andy Warhol, to differentiate which was the background and which was the figure.

We created different backgrounds using our hands, sponges, flat paint brushes, big q-tips and more. Sometimes we used two colours to see how they mixed and sometimes only one colour.

Afterwards, when it was dry, we observed the background they made and with a q-tip and black ink they had to draw a figure on it. We were careful to use the q-tip to make a drawing and not to paint because if not the background would be covered.

The “Bears” enjoyed very much this activity and used a lot their imagination to create different figures on the different backgrounds created by them!
