From Thursday, August 14th up to Saturday 16th, the first THIMUN Latin America Edition Conference took place at the British School in Montevideo, Uruguay. THIMUN stands for The Hague International Model United Nations and it is the largest Model UN in the world. As from this year it has opened a Latin American Edition in order to allow more students from our continent to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to discuss the most flagrant issues on the current United Nations agenda, standing up for the position of different countries around the world, and developing several skills, such as debating, researching and public speaking abilities.
St. Andrew’s participated with a delegation of six students, who were assigned Haiti as the country whose position they had to defend in six of the UN forums. Alejo, Lucas and Alejandro from Y1O, and Adrian, Valentina and Mateo from Y11 made an outstanding performance throughout the whole conference.
