Four hundred years after Shakespeare's death, Olivos Primary celebrates the legacy of the greatest playwright in the English language.
Mr. Oscar Llóbenes found the perfect way to introduce Shakespeare to children. He reimagined three of the bard’s plays in an engaging and approachable style, bringing Shakespeare's timeless plays to life in an innovative, fun way.
Through songs and acting, the audience was captivated by modern versions of Hamlet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, adapted and directed by Mr. Oscar.
What can we say? The quality of the acting and beautiful solo singing…the performance of two Y6 drummers…the musical numbers all exquisitely choreographed by Guada Recalde…accompanied by the talented pianist, Facundo Pesci….the lights, set and costume design by María Elena and Clio Earnshaw…and the help of teachers and support staff made this play a success!
As the audience said:
“I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how much I enjoyed the Primary Concert this morning. I thought you did a terrific job keeping the essence of the three plays alive in abridged modern versions palatable for the young actors and audience. I was particularly impressed by the handling of verse by those students you entrusted it to. I also really enjoyed the choral singing and live music, echoing your words at the beginning; it respected and enhanced the beauty and power of a medium where the "magic" happens in the moment.” - Oliver Proctor, SASS Strand Leader, Creativity and Performance.
“We really thought that the play was excellent the other day. Of course we loved seeing our daughter, but pleasingly many others also gave superb performances; there was no single stand-out performer, as the high quality was consistent throughout the cast - it is quite amazing how so many of them have progressed over the last three years. Congratulations to all involved, especially to Oscar and his team.” – Simon Chater, proud parent.
We are convinced that this experience will set the stage for a lifetime appreciation of Shakespeare and the classics! Congratulations!
