The bagpipe is the national instrument of Scotland. At St. Andrew’s we do our best to keep our Scottish heritage alive. This year we decided to offer bagpipe lessons to the children in Y4, as one of the options during the music classes.

Nearly 40 boys and girls have signed up for the lessons, which have already started. Mr. Oscar Llóbenes, Pipe Major from the Highland Thistle Pipe Band is their teacher. He began playing the pipes many years ago when he was a student at St. Andrew’s.

During the school year there are many opportunities for the children to play the pipes in different ceremonies and celebrations.

Hopefully, these young pipers will be playing the pipes for our 180th Anniversary celebrations in 2018!!!
